"RAQEEB does have Hitchcockian elements" - Jimmy Sheirgill
Joginder Tuteja, Bollywood Trade News Network
DELHII HEIGHTS has come and gone. Meanwhile Jimmy too has moved on to his next film RAQEEB about which he has been highly excited about since its conception, execution and now release.
Quiz him about the film and he admits that RAQEEB is the pucca masala film of which entertainers are made of. Insiders claim that the film is certainly an engrossing thriller/mystery.
With number of guys vying for one girl's attention and ingredients like murder, jealousy and revenge added in, does one see some Hitchcokcian elements embedded in the film?
'You can say that', he says after pausing for a second, 'Whenever you have a murder mystery being told, there are bound to be references to Hitchcock brand of cinema. So yes, here too you would be able to see some resemblance.'
How has debutant director Anurag Singh handled the subject? 'In spite of Hitchcokcian references, Anurag has made sure that the drama is presented in an Indianised manner. He has ensured that you stay on at the edge of your seat in those 2 hours.'
Again 2 hours? Jimmy seems to have become an almost regular when it comes to 2 hours cinema. This is his third straight 2 hour film after EKLAVYA - THE ROYAL GUARD and DELHII HEIGHTS.
Laughs Jimmy, 'Yahi trend hai aajkal! There is no point in stretching a film unnecessarily when something can be told in short duration while keeping the narrative crisp. This is where RAQEEB scores too!'
