'RAQEEB is what one calls a real safe movie', proclaims Jimmy Sheirgill who has quickly moved on in spite of a disastrous box office response to his last film DELHII HEIGHTS.
'Yes, it was disappointing to see DELHII HEIGHTS not do well at all. Everyone was so critical about it. But then it's ok, things like these happen. I am moving and looking forward to RAQEEB that arrives next', says Jimmy who is continuing with the flashy hairstyle that was seen last in DELHII HEIGHTS.
After films like BAS EK PAL and DELHII HEIGHTS, RAQEEB sounds like a different experience for Jimmy. 'That's true', he says excitedly, 'With a producer like Raj Kanwar at the helm, one can be assured that the film would find its audience. It's a pucca masala fare that gets an audience for itself, especially when it comes to single screens. Yes, the film will see a good multiplex release too but Raj Kanwar has his loyal fans even in the interiors that would make the film get universal acceptance.'
'Also, since the music comes on T-Series, one can expect a good promotional campaign', he adds. But the music hasn't quite caught on, isn't it? 'See, I agree that it is not really out of the box. It is typical, as you see in a 'masala' time-pass entertainer. On those grounds, the music holds on well and I am sure would pick up further when the film releases.'
So what exactly makes Jimmy so confident about the film's success? 'An interesting combination of actors', he is quick to react, 'Otherwise how many film makers could have actually imagined bringing together diverse actors like Rahul Khanna, Sharman Joshi, Tanushree Dutta and me together? When something like this happens, audience is certainly expected to stand up, notice and start asking questions about the film! This is the reason why I am not at all worried about RAQEEB; I am sure it would do well.'
