Unperturbed by the call taken by the producers and distributors of THE TRAIN who have moved the film into June, co-director Raksha Mistry believes that it will only help in pushing the promotion of her film further. "I am not bothered about the film now coming on June 8", she says without a hint of disappointment, "There was no sense in bringing it on the originally planned date of May 18 since Subhash Ghai's GOOD BOY BAD BOY had been confirmed for May 11".
"It would have been a professional hara-kiri of sorts", she adds, "Because all said and done, audience may have been in doubts to see two Emraan Hashmi films on consecutive Fridays. It is always a good practice to space out films."
But why not bring it a week later i.e. May 25th? "See, if a release is anyways being moved; why not bring it into a comfort zone? Even 2 weeks gap wasn't convincing enough and moreover with PIRATES sequel and SHOOT OUT AT LOKHANDWALA also coming on May 25th, it would have been the case of two many films stuffed with each other. June 1 was thought of though since FOOL N FINAL is a hardcore comedy and THE TRAIN coming along wouldn't have been much of an issue. But then PIRATES wave is expected to continue a week later as well. Hence June 08 was finalized since it is an open week with no other release being planned yet."
She mentions about getting into a comfort zone but how much comfortable can a film maker get if his/her film comes just a week before a Yash Raj production? After all JHOOM BARAABAR JHOOM is already confirmed for June 15th.
"My producers and distributors are confident that they would still get a good chain of theaters for them in spite of JHOOM BARAABAR JHOOM arriving a week later; they have done the mathematics. I am sure they are aware about what they are doing and considered the pros and cons. I fully support their view point and decision," she explains.
