Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's career started in Bollywood with AKS (2001), which had a dream cast comprising Amitabh Bachchan, Manoj Bajpai, Nandita Das and Raveena Tandon. Though the movie was appreciated a lot, it failed commercially. An undeterred Rakeysh went on to hit the bulls' eye, both commercially with critically, with RANG DE BASANTI (2006). It was assumed that the next few assignments would be a cakewalk for Mehra.

However, the case was just the opposite, as Rakeysh could not even finalize a lead actor for his next, DELHI 6. Initially it was to have starred Abhishek Bachchan and then Hrithik Roshan, followed by Sidddharth. But the latest that one has heard is that DELHI 6 will star none of the above three hunks, rather Rakesh Mehra may actually try for a Hollywood hero to play the lead role.
