Aftab sings Vikram’s praises
Bollywood Trade News Network
As it appears it’s not only actresses who have inhibitions when it comes to filming hot scenes. Aftab Shivdasani, who has quite a few bold scenes in his next release Vikram Bhatt’s RED, had several apprehensions too. “At first I was very, very apprehensive about the bold scenes in RED. It took me some time to convince myself. But if there’s anyone I trust its Vikram Bhatt, and I knew he would only portray the scenes aesthetically. I do have my limitations when it comes to bold scenes. I have to believe in what I’m doing,” says Aftab on the scenes.
What helped was that Aftab was shooting with two ladies he was comfortable with it. “Amrita Arora and I are buddies and we’ve worked together before, but it was the first time I was working with Celina,” reveals Aftab. “I’m paired opposite her in the film. RED is not a love triangle as people think and most of my track was with her. I play a man who undergoes a heart transplant and falls in love with the wife of my donor. Celina made me feel really comfortable.”
And now that the promos are out, Aftab is very pleased with the product. “The film looks stunning,” he says. “People are going to be pleasantly shocked by the chemistry between me and Celina. This kind of chemistry is hard to find. The film looks like beautiful European cinema.’
It’s the 9th film Aftab is doing with director Vikram Bhatt, while there’s still another in the pipeline called LIFE MAIN KABHI KABHI. “Vikram and I work together so much because we’re just so comfortable with each other and believe in each other. We have both grown professionally and personally since our first film. I’ve never seen Vikram shoot like he’s shot for this film before. The shot-taking is very definitive. Even in LIFE MAIN KABHI KABHI which is the story of six friends, Vikram has told the entire story in the form of six chapters, just like how a storybook unfolds. It’s quite interesting,’ says Aftab of his director mentor.
Another film Aftab is really looking forward to is E Niwas’s DE TAALI, where he, Riteish Deshmukh and Ayesha Takia are three best friends, growing up together. “We had such a gala time; I don’t think any bonding in the industry is as good as what we have in DE TAALI. It’s just too cute and a lot like DIL CHAHTA HAIN. Only 10 years younger.”
