Ask Bong babe Rituparna Sengupta about her definition of glamour and she opines, “Glamour is a relative term. It’s a mix of sophistication and sensuousness. One without the other is beauty without brains. One should look glamourous in a sophisticated way without looking vulgar.”
The National Award winning Bengali actress admits that life in Mumbai is far more competitive than Kolkata . She has several Bengali hits like DAHAN and PAROMITAR EK DIN to her credit. “Mumbai is very lively and competitive. I know I’ll have to really slog it hard and it’s tough out here, but it’s not impossible. I have no issues with it and I’m ready for all that it takes.”
Presently she is shooting for DIL KA ARMAAN directed by debutant Anup Das who has directed short films and documentaries earlier. The film revolves around a corporate lady played by her and a surrogate mother played by Divya Dutta.
Moreover Rituparna is paired opposite Parveen Dabbas in her upcoming film SIRF also starring Kay Kay Menon, Manisha Koirala, Sonali Kulkarni, Ranveer Shorey, Ankur Khanna and Nauheed Cyrusi. “SIRF sensitively deals with the relationship of 3 couples. It’s a contemporary concept and bears a subtle resemblance to the lifestyle of Mumbai.”
The Bollywood aspirant is eagerly looking forward to working with Sunny Deol in Ashwin Choudhury’s GURUDAKSHINA. Also in the offing is Kalpana Lajmi’s UNTITLED film with Isha Koppikar.
