No bold scenes for Geeta Basra!

A fanatic Bollywood buff, Geeta Basra grew up on a staple diet of Hindi films. Given her penchant and affinity for Indian cinema, ‘Bollywood’ just seems apt for the London lass. Her debut film DIL DIYA HAI sank into oblivion but Geeta is all set to carve a niche for herself in the make-believe world of entertainment.
“I’d be lying of I said I wasn’t disappointed. The promos looked promising and people were taking note of it. I guess we shouldn’t have released it around shrad plus there was LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI giving us tough competition,” sighs Geeta adding, “People who’ve seen the film now really liked it. Clichéd as it may sound, we as actors worked with utmost sincerity and gave it our all. Anyway people have appreciated my work and I still get calls for my performance.”
Geeta is skeptical about ‘bold scenes’ and expresses her discomfort and reluctance for the same. Her second film, Shyam Bajaj’s THE TRAIN, apparently has a bold storyline and requires her to shed her inhibitions. “I am not okay with bold scenes. But I’ve realized that it’s just a ‘character’ that I am portraying. I rather focus on the character than let such issues hassle me. Moreover the story was too tempting to decline it on such grounds,” she reasons.
“In Hollywood a scene is a scene but here it’s tagged as a ‘Bold scene’. I play Roma Kapoor, a mature business woman in the film. She is a today’s woman and the script required her to be bold in some ways. The film deals with extra marital affairs but there’s a lot more to it. It’s just a subtext and there’s more to the story,” adds Geeta.
She’s paired opposite Emraan Hashmi once again who recently tied the nuptial knot with long time girlfriend Parveen Shahani. “Emraan is a nice guy. I enjoy working with him. This is our second film and I am a lot more conformable now,” she says.
A hardcore Madhuri Dixit loyalist, Geeta idolizes her and is eagerly awaiting her comeback. “I am so happy that she’s returning to the silver screen. She is just so perfect and it’s great to have her back,” enthuses Geeta who was dying to be a part of the film MAIN MADHURI DIXIT BANNA CHAHTI HUN.
The lady is fairly superstitious and doesn’t wish to talk about her upcoming films. “I have 2 more projects coming up. We’ll be starting in March and I am really looking forward to it,” she signs off.
