Life couldn’t get any rosier for the perky Ayesha Takia. The lady has proved her mettle in DOR and recently bagged the ‘Star Screen Best Actress Critics Award’ for the same. Apparently even Karan Johar was bowled over by her breathtaking performance in the film.
“DOR has changed lots of things for me. It has opened up new avenues for me. I am grateful to Nagesh Kukunoor for trusting me and giving me this opportunity. I needed a film like DOR and I am really glad it happened,” enthuses the chirpy actress adding, “It’s so sweet of the industry to still call me and appreciate my work. I hope to win some more awards.”
Ayesha played Meera, the young abiding traditional woman sans make up in the film. DOR has definitely propelled the actress to the superstar status.
“People have realized my potential and understand what I’m capable of,” says Ayesha who forayed into filmdom with TARZAN- The Wonder Car. “It’s very important for me to know what I’m doing in a film. It has to really excite me and move me."
Ayesha’s forthcoming films include SALAAM-E-ISHQ, FOOL N FINAL, DE TAALI, KYA LOVE STORY HAI and NO SMOKING. Incidentally she strutted the ramp for the music launch of SALAAM-E-ISHQ with her costar Akshaye Khanna et al. “We really had a blast back stage. It was so much of fun and excitement. I wasn’t jittery at all,” recounts Ayesha who walked the ramp for IIFA’s charity event in Dubai earlier.
Ayesha Takia's quest for meaningful cinema is evident. Unlike her contemporaries, Ayesha doesn’t believe in shedding clothes and locking lips in today’s dare-bare scenario. Incidentally she declined Nagesh Kukunoor’s AASHAYEIN which required her to kiss and even turned down Yashraj’s NEAL N NIKKI on similar grounds. The lady has her unflinching set of principles and believes in sticking to it. “Under no circumstance will I kiss in a film, no matter how tempting the role is,” she earlier said in an interview.
