Randeep Hooda’s character in RISK was conceived much before D released. He plays Suryakant Satam, an upright, righteous cop in RISK that is set to release tomorrow.
“My mother wanted me to be a real life cop since she felt I could discipline people” Randeep said tongue in cheek.
Apparently the film is loosely based on encounter specialist Daya Nayak’s life. Randeep did his bit to prepare for the character since he didn’t want to make a caricature of police. He incorporated quite a few traits from Daya Nayak.
“I don’t know if the film is based on Daya Nayak’s life or not. But yes I have taken his inputs and spent quality time with him. He was a great help and I imbibed lots from him,” said Randeep adding, “I tried my level best to portray an original character. RISK is a fictional larger than life story.”
His camaraderie with director Vishram Sawant goes back a long way. “Vishram and I did D together. We keep fighting all the time but we don’t let it affect our work. We hope to get a bigger audience with RISK,” he said.
On sharing screen space with the veteran actor Vinod Khanna Randeep expressed, “It’s very sweet of Mr. Vinod Khanna to think so highly of us. He says he felt like a newcomer. Infact he never made us feel like newcomers. It was a pleasure and an honour working with an actor of his stature.”
The charismatic Rohtak lad made his debut in Mira Nair’s MONSOON WEDDING followed by D and DARNA ZAROORI HAI. His upcoming films include RUBARU and KARMA, CONFESSIONS and HOLI.
