Subhash Ghai’s WWI celebrates 1st Anniversary

View  Whistling Woods's 1st Anniversary - Picture GalleryOn 18th July 2006 there was a significant addition to India’s Media and Entertainment industry – by way of Subhash Ghai’s ‘Whistling Woods International’, Asia’s largest Institute for Film, Television, Animation & Media Arts. Celebrating its 1st anniversary today, the institute saw gathering of members of all the core team, students, faculty, and several dignitaries from the entertainment industry like Govind Nihalani, Manmohan Shetty, Kumar Taurani, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Sukhwinder Singh, Anuradha Prasad, Farah Khan, Kundan Shah, Kailash & Aarti Surendranath, Zayed Khan, Kishen Kumar and more. The event started with a welcome address by President Meghna Ghai-Puri, followed by a keynote address by Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Governing Council of Whistling Woods. The event closed with a sterling performance by India’s ace percussionist - Sivamani.

During the event, students feted several of the media luminaries by having Heads of Departments of the various specializations at WWIL present them with beautiful books on Buddha. The people honoured were – Govind Nihalani, Manmohan Shetty, Kumar Taurani, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Sukhwinder Singh, Anuradha Prasad, Kundan Shah, Kailash & Aarti Surendranath, Kishen Kumar and Ali Peter John.

Says Subhash Ghai, “The past year has seen tremendous growth and the institute is well on its way to create successful future talent for the Film & Entertainment Industry. The institute has offered state-of-the-art training facilities, an internationally developed and structured curriculum, highly respected industry-leaders as faculty, regular guest lectures by feted Indian & international film-makers and the best technology and institutional partnerships India has seen till date.” He further adds, “This is largely due to the extensive efforts of our staff & faculty and the valuable support of leading professionals from the Indian Media Industry.”

Now housing over 200 students from 8 countries, this world class Institute, equipped with state of the art technological facilities and infrastructure, has been going from strength to strength in its endeavor to train and groom young media professionals.
Based in Film City (Goregaon, Mumbai) and promoted by Mukta Arts Ltd & Filmcity, Mumbai, Whistling Woods International provides world-class training across all technical and creative aspects of filmmaking, television, animation & other media arts as part of a two-year intensive hands-on training program. In addition to being the first private media-education venture in India, Whistling Woods is also the first professional educational media establishment to combine instruction and research facilities on such a large scale.
