We caught up with Yash Raj Films' vice president (production) Aashish Singh, during a private function, yesterday (Sunday). While he refused to comment on the reasons for the failure of JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM or for that matter on the release plans of the upcoming, CHAKDE! INDIA, he did enlighten us on a few other points.

He said that now films have to touch on the social issues and at the same time they should be commercially viable too. Talking about the emphasis on Overseas shooting locales, he added that it is necessary because it brings in their culture into our films and that helps in boosting the global appeal of the movie and in capturing the attention of the Overseas audience also.

When we queried him about the rising trend of going in for remakes, Aashish was more forthright in admitting that it clearly showed a lack creativity and new ideas and that is why the remake boom.
