View Jhoom Barabar Jhoom Movie StillsNext Friday will see the release of Yash Raj's much awaited and destined to succeed, JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM. The movie, starring the likes of Amitabh & Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Bobby Deol and Lara Dutta, is already quite hyped and given the fact that the music is already very popular, JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM is expected to take a flying start across India and Overseas.

Coming to last Friday's releases, all the five movies have generally taken a poor to ordinary start. While RED SWASTIK was poor to dull, the Manoj-Juhi starrer SWAMI, met with a similar fate. The opening of another movie, the critically acclaimed DHARM, was frighteningly poor everywhere. The last two releases of the week were MERA PEHLA PEHLA PYAAR and THE TRAIN, and both had a dull to weak opening of around 40 to 50 percent. Of the five releases, only the last two, namely MERA PEHLA PEHLA PYAAR and THE TRAIN can still harbour some hopes and that too of just a recovery, though given the rock bottom prices, MERA PEHLA PEHLA PYAAR may just about end up as an earner.

View FOOL N FINAL Premiere - Picture GalleryMoving on to the first week performance of FOOL N FINAL, the multistarrer, after a good first weekend, dropped as the week progressed. Still the performance in Bombay circuit, Central India and parts of North are quite satisfactory and the makers can hope for at least an average plus status. In its first week, FOOL N FINAL collected 1.62 crores from Bombay, 82 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 3.65 lakhs from Himmatnagar, 8.20 lakhs from Rajkot, 4.50 lakhs from Jamnagar, 5.53 lakhs from Nasik, 60 lakhs from Delhi city, 11 lakhs from Noida, 7 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 4.50 lakhs each from Agra and Lucknow, 5 lakhs from Varanasi, 10 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.86 lakhs from Guwahati, 17.25 lakhs from Nagpur, 15.50 lakhs from Indore, 22 lakhs from Jaipur, 3.45 lakhs from Aurangabad, 35.50 lakhs from Hyderabad and 4.40 lakhs from Madras. On the whole, FOOL N FINAL has not performed as per expectations but has still managed to collect nearly 12 crores from India, during its first week and has to have another decent week to be called a safe movie for all its distributors. FOOL N FINAL has been rejected in the overseas, though it has managed to collect $209,519 from the UK and the distributors, Tip Top, can still hope for a cost recovery.

Cheeni Kum Movie PosterComing to an earlier release, the Amitabh-Tabu starrer, CHEENI KUM, the movie has maintained very well in the cities and is also doing quite well in the UK. In its second week, CHEENI KUM collected 1.17 crores from Bombay, 19.70 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.80 lakhs from Rajkot, 2.26 lakhs from Nasik, 57 lakhs from Delhi city, 10 lakhs from Noida, 3.10 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 2 lakhs from Kanpur, 1.35 lakhs from Varanasi, 11.60 lakhs from Gurgaon, 4.16 lakhs from Faridabad, 2.20 lakhs from Nagpur, 5 lakhs from Indore, 2.21 lakhs from Jaipur, 28 lakhs from Calcutta, and 9.30 lakhs from Hyderabad. With nearly 4.30 crores in the second week, the all-India total is a healthy 11.30 crores. Given the 10 to 12 crore budget and the reasonable selling prices, the movie (already an average), can crawl up to a higher status for sure. CHEENI KUM has also done very well in the Overseas, collecting $655,246 from US and $675,251 from UK.

SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA was the movie that released with Shootout At LlokhandwalaCHEENI KUM and it continues to do well, more so in Bombay, Gujarat and Saurashtra. Though it has dropped at some places, the collections are still quite decent. In the second week, SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA collected 1.77 crores from Bombay, 40 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 2 lakhs from Himmatnagar, 7.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 3.35 lakhs from Solapur, 3.66 lakhs from Nasik, 67 lakhs from Delhi city, 11 lakhs from Noida, 4.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 5 lakhs from Lucknow, 3.30 lakhs from Kanpur, 2.50 lakhs from Agra, 4.25 lakhs from Varanasi, 5.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 12.25 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1 lakh from Guwahati, 23 lakhs from Calcutta, 5 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.80 lakhs from Raipur, 4 lakhs from Jaipur, 1.35 lakhs from Ajmer, 2.15 lakhs from Aurangabad, 13 lakhs from Hyderabad and 1.60 lakhs from Madras. With nearly 8.50 crores in the second week from India, the all-India total now stands at nearly 27 crores and the movie can be declared a hit, given its selling prices and budget. However, SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA has dissapointed in the Overseas, collecting $289,232 from US and $281,844 from UK and the distributors will be lucky to recover their cost.

Download Metro WallpapersAnurag Basu's METRO continues to get the collections trickle in even in the fourth week as the movie added another crore for an all-India total of nearly 15 crores so far. The 8 crore METRO is now an unquestionable semi-hit to hit in India and with some luck may be able to get to a higher status.

Yash Raj's TA RA RUM PUM too managed to collect 0.70 crores from India in the sixth week. With nearly 37.50 crores so far, the Saif-Rani starrer is now a good hit in India. In the overseas, TA RA RUM PUM has so far collected $1,527,252 in the UK and is Bollywood's second highest earner of the year after NAMASTEY LONDON. It has ended its run in the US with a very ordinary $872,643. Overall, TA RA RUM PUM can be termed as a below par performer from the Yash Raj banner.
