View IIFA 2007 - Picture GalleryActor-MP  Govinda  was  the  first  choice  for  ace  choregrapher Ganesh  Acharya's  debut  film  as  a  director,  SWAMI.  However  Govinda  turned  down  the  offer  saying  that  after  movies  like  RADHA  KA  SANGAM  and  NASEEB,  he  had  stopped  doing  serious  stuff.  Ganesh  then  turned  to  Manoj  Bajpai,  who  agreed  to  act  opposite  Juhi  Chawla  in  the  critically  acclaimed  movie.

While  there  may  be  debates  about  how  SWAMI  would  have  fared  had  Govinda  been  a  part  of  it,  Ganesh  must  be  credited  for  his  choice  of  newfind  Maninder,  who    essayed  the  role  of  the  ideal  son  'Adarsh'  with  aplomb.  Maninder,  who  got  praise  for  his  histrionics  in  SWAMI (from  almost  every  critic),  is  an  actor  to  watch  out  for.
