A trip to US, UK and India this March 23
By Joginder Tuteja, Bollywood Trade News Network
This 23rd March cinegoers would get an opportunity to pick and choose between different destinations on the silver screen.
There are three distinct films that are slated for release on this day - NAMASTEY LONDON, SAY SALAAM INDIA and THE NAMESAKE. Call it a coincidence but each of these three films are shot in different locations across globe.
So while NAMASTEY LONDON, as the title suggests, has been prominently shot in London [with good portion in India too], SAY SALAAM INDIA is a complete 'desi' affair with India as the backdrop for the film. On the other hand THE NAMESAKE, has US as the country where the film has been set.
NAMASTEY LONDON is a Vipul Shah film and is about a man [Akshay Kumar] who travels all the way to London to be with his newly wed NRI wife [Katrina Kaif]. On the other hand Sanjay Suri plays a Under-19 cricket coach in SAY SALAAM INDIA who takes it on him to build a pack of committed cricketers to take on the rival cricket team of a prestigious school meant for the elite.
Third release of the week, Meera Nair's THE NAMESAKE is about the Gangulis - Ashoke [Irrfan Khan] and Ashima [Tabu] - who are based out of Kolkata and being married to each other recently, they migrate to US in search of living a new life together.
For them, US is the ultimate destination that would make them realize their dreams of a better existence and would provide them with all that they have ever wanted. They do reach New York and life was never meant to be same for them again.
