The film industry was stunned by the dull opening of last Friday's Sidhdharth Raj Anand directed, TA RA RUM PUM. Despite the high-powered publicity there was no rush at the cinemas on the first day for the Yash Raj banner flick.
One of the main reasons for the below par start is the title. TA RA RUM PUM denotes music but the film boasts of very ordinary tunes, not worthy of either the title or the Yash Raj banner. The songs have not become popular and that may have hurt the opening.
Also, when the initial publicity took off, it raised high expectations but as more trailors came on television, people realized that the film was about a married couple with two children, and that must have acted as a dampener. The audience expectation from a Saif-Rani film, especially titled TA RA RUM PUM, is that it would provide loads of romance, courtship, fun and games and this one seemed entirely different.
