Download Ta Ra Rum Pum WallpapersNext Friday will see the release of SPIDER-MAN 3, with a record number of prints (including dubbed versions). Giving company to the masked hero will be Nana-Rekha's critic pleasing YATRA. Of the two, SPIDER-MAN 3 is expected to rule the box-office (even in its Bhojpuri avatar!), while Gautam Ghosh's YATRA will be a film for the festivals and may not achieve much commercially.

Almost all the trade sources were taking the good opening of TA RA RUM PUM for granted and predicting a mad rush at the ticket windows. While the two big earners of 2007, GURU (42 crores) and NAMASTEY LONDON (35.75 crores) are unquestionable successes in both India and Overseas, even they had a dull to ordinary first day, only to pick up by positive-word-of-mouth. It was expected that TA RA RUM PUM would change all that and rule the box-office from the first show itself. However, the audience had other ideas and the dull initial of the Sidhdharth Raj Anand directed, Saif-Rani starrer shocked one and all in the industry. While the single screens were poor, the multiplexes were decent. In the Overseas TA RA RUM PUM collected $463,022 from UK and $425,102 from the US, during the first weekend. Though it will be considered good for any other movie, for a Yash Raj project it is a below par performance. However, trade still expects that TA RA RUM PUM will pick up to make the film a good to decent earner in the major circuits, with the multiplexes faring much better. And there have been indications of better collections on Saturday and Sunday.

View Kya Love Story Hai Movie StillsOn to the first week performance of KYA LOVE STORY HAI, the Tusshar-Ayesha starrer proves to be a supreme disaster. It has not been accepted by either the mass or the class. Moving on to the collections, in its first week KYA LOVE STORY HAI collects 51 lakhs from Bombay, 18 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.32 lakhs from Rajkot, 25 lakhs from Delhi, 3 lakhs from Noida, 2.70 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 4.50 lakhs from Lucknow, 2 lakhs from Gurgaon, 3.56 lakhs from Nagpur 9 lakhs (gross) from Hyderabad and 1.58 lakhs from Aurangabad. The first week all-India total is about 3 crores.

BIG BROTHER crashed in its second week but given the 1 lakh per major territory distribution ratio, and the two-week collections, it must have come as a big relief to the Dhanoa-Sunny team. Most of the Hindi belt distributors have managed to recover their investments, while in East Punjab, Bihar and Rajasthan a few have made small profits too. Coming to the collections, BIG BROTHER collected 10 lakhs from Bombay, 2.34 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.63 lakhs from Lucknow, 1.50 lakhs from Agra, 1 lakh apiece from Nagpur and Amravati and 1.60 lakhs from Hyderabad. The second week total collections from India are about 1.50 crores for an all-India total of around 6.50 lakhs in two weeks. Overall BIG BROTHER is a below average fare that has managed to get to an above average status in Punjab, Rajasthan and Bihar.

Download Bheja Fry WallpapersThe surprise hit of 2007, BHEJA FRY is stronger in its second week as compared to the first one. A rare phenomenon indeed! Instead of falling, the collections have improved at some places. In the second week, BHEJA FRY collects 80 lakhs from Bombay, 12.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 39 lakhs from Delhi, 12 lakhs from Noida, 2.76 lakhs from Lucknow, 7 lakhs from Gurgaon, 13.50 lakhs from Calcutta, 3.50 lakhs from Indore and 8 lakhs from Hyderabad. The second week collections adds up to about 2.35 crores for an all-India total of around 4.60 crores in two weeks. Given the shoestring budget of 55 to 60 lakhs, BHEJA FRY is an unquestionable hit and with just another decent week, it may emerge as the biggest hit of 2007!

Coming to THE NAMESAKE, Mira Nair's Tabu-Irrfan starrer collected another 30 lakhs in its fifth week and its total stands at about 4.50 crores from India. The movie is an above average in India but may find it difficult to climb to a semi-hit. A praisworthy effort all the same. In the overseas, THE NAMESAKE is creating History at the US box-office, having collected a mind boggling $10,771,198. Though it could not emulate its US performance in the UK, it still manages a good enough $910,208.

Namastey London Movie PosterFilms have come and films have gone but Vipul Shah's biggest hit in India and Overseas, the Akshay-Katrina starrer NAMASTEY LONDON, continues its steady run. In the fifth week the movie has collected 22 lakhs from Bombay, 10 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.30 lakhs from Rajkot, 19 lakhs from Delhi, 3.50 lakhs from Noida, 3.75 lakhs from Lucknow, 3 lakhs from Faridabad, 2.80 lakhs from Gurgaon, 2.50 lakhs from Indore, 1.23 lakhs from Aurangabad and 10 lakhs from Hyderabad. The fifth week numbers adds up to about 1.75 crores for a total of nearly 35.75 crores in five weeks from India. NAMASTEY LONDON is a hit in India (superhit in Delhi-UP, East Punjab and Rajasthan). In the overseas, NAMASTEY LONDON is already a superhit, collecting $ 1,207,007 from the US and $1,723,202 from UK.
