Never thought that I would sing- Mithoon

Mithoon continues to be the same modest young man as he was last year when he first made headlines with his song 'Tere Bin' from BAS EK PAL.

Though the music of his THE TRAIN is topping the charts, he hasn't let it impact his humble background and upbringing be impacted to his newfound star status. "I can just say that today I am here all because of the grace of God. Yes, I work hard on my music and take a slow approach towards its completion rather than rushing it through. But then this is me and I am happy to take this route. I don't want to choose a heap of projects and get spoilt. I may rather work on select projects and give my best there", he says in a mature tone.

But how did this 22-year-old boy suddenly come behind the mike too? Apparently both the songs rendered by him in the film, 'Woh Ajnabee' and 'Mausam', have turned out to be hits. "You won't believe it but I had never thought of being a singer, at least not for 'Mausam'", he confesses.

So how did it all happen? "Well, I had done a scratch version of 'Mausam' and gave it to the directors Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwala since they needed it urgently for the film's shoot. I sang it and the plan was to later get it dubbed for the final version. Later everyone from the film insisted that we retain the version sung by me."

What was his reaction? "I was insistent that we go ahead and have some other singer on board. As a matter of fact I also had some other singers try it out for the song but we were not getting the right tone. Also whenever I talked about getting the song dubbed, Sabke Munh Utar Jaate They", he laughs.

"Finally I relented and let the song remain with my voice. Having said that let me be honest that I wanted to sing 'Woh Ajnabee'. I had placed myself in that situation since the very start and had worked on it to get the kind of effect we wanted from this song. It is for a special situation in the film and we wanted a voice that compliments Emraan's character in the film. I guess the effort played and that's the reason why audience is picking up the song well", he concludes.
