Download Metro WallpapersNext Friday will see the release of Anurag Basu's METRO and Mukta Arts GOOD BOY BAD BOY. Of the two, the well-publicized Shilpa, Shiney, Konkona and Kay Kay starrer METRO, that additionally boasts of extremely popular music, is expected to be the front runner. On other hand, the Ashwin Chaudhary directed Tusshar, Emraan and Tanushree starrer might have a fair opening.

While we have talked about the two forthcoming releases, the presence of last Friday's SPIDER-MAN 3, must be a worry for the makers of both METRO and GOOD BOY BAD BOY and rightly so. The Hollywood venture, which actually released with 588 prints, including 261 in Hindi, 162 in English, 78 in Tamil and 6 in Bhojpuri, took the Indian box-office by storm. While the original English version is rightly expected to do hit business, the big surprise came from the dubbed versions, which created first day records at many small centres! One has to wait and watch for the first week collections of the movie that will re-write the record books for Hollywood releases in India.

Needless to add that the film which released with SPIDER-MAN 3, the Rekha-Nana starrer YATRA, was a no show and can already be dubbed as another disaster of 2007.

Coming to the first week of Yash Raj's TA RA RUM PUM, the negative reports about the poor performance turned out to be incorrect as the Saif-Rani starrer collected impressively from the mutiplexes, resulting in a bountiful first week, despite a dull first day. On to the first week numbers, TA RA RUM PUM collected 4.37 crores from Bombay, 75 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 13 lakhs Good Boy Bad Boy Movie Posterfrom Rajkot, 6 lakhs apiece from Jamnagar and Bhavnagar, 79 lakhs from Pune, 1.84 crores from Delhi, 35 lakhs from Noida, 12 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 20 lakhs from Lucknow, 7.70 lakhs from Kanpur, 3.50 lakhs from Agra, 2.50 lakhs from Bareilly, 31 lakhs from Gurgaon, 12 lakhs from Faridabad, 50 lakhs from Calcutta, 22 lakhs from Nagpur, 21.50 lakhs from Indore, 5.30 lakhs from Bhopal, 34.50 lakhs from Jaipur, 59 lakhs (gross) from Hyderabad and 10.40 lakhs from Aurangabad. The first week all-India collections add up to nearly 18 crores. The movie had a good enough second week, though it was hit noticably by the outstanding start of SPIDER-MAN 3. However, the collections from second Monday onwards have not been very encouraging and is likely to be reflected in the second week numbers. Given its high cost, TA RA RUM PUM will depend a lot on its second week performance to determine its final outcome in India. Coming to the Overseas, the Sidhdharth Anand directed film had a big fall in the US (as compared to the first weekend) and has so far collected $667,140. In the UK it is doing quite well, collecting £ 530,227 so far. However if we sum it up, TA RA RUM PUM has not done well for a Yash Raj venture.

The second week collections of KYA LOVE STORY HAI brings further embarassment to its makers by getting collections around or below a lakh from major centres like Bombay, Ahmedabad and Delhi. With around 3.25 crores in two weeks from India, figures confirm yet again that it is indeed a supreme disaster.

Download Bheja Fry WallpapersBHEJA FRY continues its dream run even in its third week, collecting 57 lakhs from Bombay, 8 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 24 lakhs from Delhi, 3 lakhs from Gurgaon, 15 lakhs from Calcutta, 2.70 lakhs from Indore and 1.50 lakhs from Jaipur. The third week yields another 1.60 crores for an all-India total of around 6.30 crores so far. Given the shoestring budget of 55 to 60 lakhs and the returns, BHEJA FRY is now a superhit and the biggest success of 2007 and still has some power left to earn more.

Guddu Dhanoa's Sunny-Priyanka starrer BIG BROTHER is likely to end its run in India with close to 7 crores. While that is definately not an achievement to feel thrilled about but given the way Sunny's last few movies have failed, the below average status for such an old product must be big relief for the macho hero.

Coming to the Akshay-Katrina starrer NAMASTEY LONDON, after five steady weeks, the movie took its first major drop in its sixth, collecting 6 lakhs from Bombay, 4 lakhs from Namastey London Movie PosterAhmedabad, 8 lakhs from Delhi, 1.50 lakhs from Noida, 2.75 lakhs from Lucknow, 1.25 lakhs from Kanpur, 2.36 lakhs from Gurgaon, 2 lakhs from Faridabad, and 4.75 lakhs from Hyderabad. The Vipul Shah directed film collected around 85 lakhs in its sixth week from India and its all-India total now stands at around 36.60 crores. It will be interesting to see whether NAMASTEY LONDON can break into the superhit bracket from its current hit status. In the Overseas, NAMASTEY LONDON is already a superhit with $ 1,207,007 from the US and £ 869,333 from UK.
