Keeping the previous track record of director Anees Bazmee (NO ENTRY) in mind, and the four back-to-back successes of its lead actor Akshay Kumar, WELCOME seems to be the hottest film in the distribution circle.
If the distribution sources are to be believed, Ramesh Sippy has reportedly paid Rs. 7.5-crores for the Bombay circuit rights, excluding Mumbai city. Of the phenomenal price he has paid to Indian Films (the worldwide right holders), Ramesh Sippy has already recovered almost 50 percent from just Gujarat and Saurashtra. To elaborate, now Sippy has to recover the 50 percent balance from Thane, Maharashtra and the remaining Bombay-Karnataka areas.
While on some of the other circuits, the Nizam distributor has reportedly paid Rs. 1.5-crores for WELCOME, while the Rajasthan distributor, almost the same amount.
Here's hoping that WELCOME proves to be another welcome preposition for the industry!
