Multiplexes to shut down today evening?

Would multiplexes across the country choose to shut down at 5 PM?

They may well do so if the phenomenal craze to watch the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup is anything to go by. On the Saturday gone by, when the all important India-Australia semi-final match was on, multiplexes bore a haunting look with shows going nearly empty once the match commenced at 9:30 PM. With no takers for the movies in the running, box office counters cut a sorry tale.

Situation is expected to further get worse today with the India-Pakistan Final match commencing at 5:30 PM. With the match expected to end only around 9 PM, the evening shows are widely expected to go for a complete toss. Yes, there may be a situation when a section of audience may just about choose to visit a nearby multiplex after the match but chances for that seems to be remote too!

First it was one day internationals and now there is Twenty20. Bollywood gets yet another (valid) reason to complain if films do not perform during the cricket season!
