HOPE AND A LITTLE SUGAR has turned out to be a classic case of an underdog finding good success coming its way. Though this Mahima Chaudhary starrer doesn't have much to talk about when it comes to box office returns, at least if one looks at an opening day response, it has still managed to garner some good reviews in most newspapers / websites.
A film which looks at the life of a family post 9/11, it has been hailed for the way director Tanuja Chandra has handled the subject in a sensitive manner. To add to this, what has come as a pleasant surprise is to see the PARDES girl, Mahima Chaudhary, finally seeing some good reviews coming her way after forgettable outings in the form of KUDIYON KA HAI ZAMAANA, SOUTEN and MR. 100% - THE REAL PLAYER.
Mahima has been termed nothing less than being incredible and appreciated for scoring in all department ranging from looks, dialogue, diction and acting. Moreover Tanuja Chandra (who in the past has directed films like DUSHMAN and SANGHARSH) has also been acclaimed for HOPE AND A LITTLE SUGAR being her best effort ever. As a whole, the film has been termed as 'well intentioned' as it truly brings out the pathos of people who lost the ones close to them in the 9/11 tragedy.
Though the arrival of TASHAN coming Friday doesn't sound like a good idea for the survival of HOPE AND A LITTLE SUGAR in weeks to come, at the least positive reviews should help the film enjoy good home viewing once the DVDs hit the stands.
