Wilson Louis: Finding a producer for a horror film is all about luck

Wilson LouisWilson Louis, a much acclaimed name in the world of visual effects after completing more than 40 films as a visual effects producer, is ready for his big screen foray. After his debut flick HO SAKTA HAI, he is now ready with not one but two films - LONAVALA KHANDALA GHAT and KAALO.

'In Bollywood, traditionally horror genre hasn't been exposed to the limit it possibly can be. There aren't many producers who are ready to back a project belonging to horror genre because somehow many feel that it is not a safe genre to explore. A film maker should consider himself lucky if he gets a producer who is willing to fund a horror genre', rues Wilson Louis whose HO SAKTA HAI, a paranormal film based on the belief of black magic, was nominated as the best SFX film in the top three films of the year at the FICCI awards 2005.

'There was a lull after HO SAKTA HAI but only in terms of a film of mine arriving at the big screen. Otherwise I was busy writing scripts and getting production plans in place for my next films. This is when I went ahead and completed LONAVALA KHANDALA GHAT followed by KAALO. Incidentally both the films belong to horror genre.'

'I was getting the DOLBY print in place for LONAVALA KHANDALA GHAT when Yash Patnaik, owner of BEYOND DREAMS - a newly launched production house, told me that he was interested in horror genre. This is when the idea of KAALO came about and the project started rolling', details Wilson who is looking at setting himself up as a brand when it comes to making films belonging to horror/thriller genres.

'My aim is to make 4-5 horror films in a year. Beginning 2008, I am pretty much on the target as LONAVALA KHANDALA GHAT and KAALO are getting ready for release while I would be beginning work on my next film this July. Once I complete that film, which should happen in around 3 months time, I would be moving on to direct another around September/October. This way I should have four films which are completed and/or released before the year ends', says the 36 year old film maker hopefully.
