A hit movie does wonders for everyone involved. And when it turns out to be a blockbuster, sky is the limit.
'Finally, I have a big successful film to my name', beams JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA star Manjari Fadnis who made her debut as a school girl in ROK SAKO TO ROK LO 4 years back and followed it up with MUMBAI SALSA which came last year.
'In between I also did this Bengali film called FALTU which recently won a National Award for itself. I was slowly moving up the ladder in the interim and though I was on board for JAANE TU JAANE NAA quite some back, I am back to being visible only now due to constant delay in the film being made.'
Accolades coming in for her act in spite of playing a second lead for have been reassuring?
'Pretty much so', Manjari is quick to exclaim, 'It isn't really funny to be waiting for so long for your work to be recognized. Good reviews which came along with ROK SAKO TO ROK LO did make me happy but I was constantly in search of signing just the right projects. Thankfully JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA turned out to be one such film.'
She played the main lead in her first two Hindi films but they didn't succeed at the box office. Now her second lead act is getting her unmatchable appreciation. What's her career path from here on?
'Of course to be signed in for the lead roles', Manjari is prompt to say, 'From this point on, even if I sign a multi starrer, it has to be a lead role. I guess I have been making the right choices and it would only make sense to be a part of the project which offers me good visibility and a role to sink my teeth on. Some people did complain about the length of my role in JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA. Well, I can only feel good that they missed me enacting a larger part. I can assure that it would only get better in films to come.'
While Manjari is still waiting to sign her next film, one of the films for which she has already finished shooting is I AM 24. A comedy which brings her back with producer Arindam Chaudhuri (after ROK SAKO TO ROK LO), I AM 24 is directed by Saurabh Shukla and stars Rajat Kapoor in the lead along with Ranvir Shorey, Neha Dhupia, Vijay Raaz, Lilette Dubey and Delnaz Paul.
