Ajay Monga has been in news for moving to the Bombay High Court alleging that Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan have lifted his script to make OM SHANTI OM. However, not many are aware that Monga is already in line to make his directorial debut with a film called SHELF LIFE.
Though not much is known about this small time film which has Monga playing the role of director as well as story and screenplay writer, SHELF LIFE is expected to find itself in news for next few weeks due to OM SHANTI OM controversy.
Now Monga has alleged that OM SHANTI OM is based on his script which he wrote for a film titled SILENT MOVIE. His petition says, 'The film had a storyline where a junior artiste Raju falls in love with a big actress who is already engaged to a superstar. Raju on one occasion saves the actress's life and in return, the actress spends one day with Raju. Eventually, a rift develops between the actress and her fiance and after which she starts liking the junior artiste.'
However, though a section is media is questioning Monga around his timing of petition (which is close to one year after the release of OM SHANTI OM), the fact is that the writer-director has been fighting his case for more than six months now. Even earlier this year, there were reports around Monga demanding Rs 1.25 crores from Red Chillies for alleged copyright violation. At that time, he had alleged that while the first half of the film was as per the script written by him, the second half was a mix of KARZ and MADHUMATI.
Monga is not new to the world of Hindi films since in the years gone by, he has also written scripts for Madhur Bhandarkar's FASHION and CORPORATE.
