So, what's common to MAAN GAYE MUGHALL-E-AZAM and JAANE BHI DO YAARON? Well, apart from the fact that both the films are black comedies and have some of the finest sets of actors, is there anything else that is similar? Well, from the looks of it nothing, but if one asks the director, Sanjay Chhel, he would proudly let us know that the theatre that he short listed for the shooting of his project is the same one where Kundan Shah's cult movie JAANE BHI DO YAARON's hilarious Mahabharat climax scene was picturised.
The authentic and original look of the auditorium, which forms the backdrop of the film, is a result of the obvious similarity. Moreover, Chhel informs that it is the same theatre where Paresh Rawal (who he calls the soul of his movie) got his first award. Quite a coincidence and he is positive after seeing the superlative performances of the impressive cast that like JAANE BHI DO YAARON, his film too will be well received.
Well, even if Chhel's film succeeds in providing us half the entertainment that JAANE BHI DO YAARON did, we are sure that he has a winner on his hands.
