SHYAM BENEGAL

SHYAM BENEGAL

Recently when WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR had released many of us thought that this was just an experiment of Shyam Benegal (rightly called as the pioneer of parallel cinema in Bollywood) with comedy. But who knew that the prolific filmmaker is actually planning to set his feet in comic zone.

The latest buzz in the b–town suggests that the maverick filmmaker is planning another comedy film after getting positive responses and reviews across nation for his Shreyas–Amrita starrer WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR.

According to Benegal this new film will be given a political satire, it will be funnier and entertaining than WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR.

Shyam Benegal's films have always catered to a niche audience and garnered maximum critical acclaims but finally after the success of WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR he has been able to meet with the commercial success.

And we hope that after earning a name in realistic cinema soon Benegal will be reckoned with comedy also.
