Ad filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee's debut feature film, the realistically hilarious KHOSLA KA GHOSLA, set in West Delhi, was one of the sleeper hits of last year. The comedy about a middleclass family that takes on a rapacious builder deftly used character types and linguistic quirks, typical of 'sadda' Dilli!
Dibakar's second film, OYE LUCKY! LUCKY OYE! returns to the Indian capital and has managed to catch the viewer's imagination once again by netting an impressive 4.10 crores (under the traumatic circumstances) from India. The second weekend too has been quite good.
A visibly happy Dibakar informs that OYE LUCKY! LUCKY OYE! is just not a laugh riot. He says, "The film is about the aspirations and class divide. It's a very adventurous, tragicomic, funny story about a thief and his adventures." He adds "I hope when people see the film, they will see that at its core it's about how class in India shuts out some people and privileges some people."
Great thoughts indeed Dibakar and nicely put! Going by the response and good word of mouth people are watching the film and those who have not, will surely, after reading your thoughts.
