As is a common knowledge by now, CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA has a song by Bappi Lahiri where he comes along with his son Bappa Lahiri to create 'India Se Aaya Tera Dost'. A take off on yesteryear hit 'Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost', the number attempts at being nostalgic with Bappi Lahiri himself coming behind the mike for this fusion number. Why fusion? Because it actually starts off in Chinese and has oriental undertones throughout its duration.
Says Bappi Lahiri, "It was an exciting opportunity to do something like this for CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA. My original number from the film AAP KI KHATIR 'Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost' had created history when it had released 31 years back. In fact its sustained popularity till date is what prompted Nikhil Advani, the film's director, to incorporate a renewed version song in CC2C. I couldn't say No."
Incidentally this is not the first time that Rohan Sippy has approached Bappi Lahiri to be a part of music of one of his films. TAXI NO: 9211, his production which had Milan Luthria as the film's director, had the chartbuster song 'Bambai Nagariya' composed especially for Bappi Lahiri. Now he has repeated him for this special number which is picturised on Akshay Kumar as he dances drunk amidst the Chinese villagers. Deepika Padukone and Ranvir Shorey are also a part of the song.
"I am quite positive that my CC2C song will create history, just like the original song. I like what I have done with the song and after seeing it on screen with Akshay in it, I am so sure that it would be a HIT with the masses", smiles Bappi da!
