Ashok Chandhok's laugh riot, KHALLBALLIFUN UNLIMITED, comprising an ensemble starcast of almost all the top Bollywood comedians, apart from the lead pair of sizzling Sadaa and dynamic Dwivedi, was earlier scheduled for a December 19th release, as per reputed trade magazines.
Since the film was slated to release in between two biggies, Shah Rukh Khan's RAB NE BANA DI JODI (released today) and Aamir Khan's GHAJINI (25th December), KHALLBALLI was not getting a good chain of theatres. The latest news from reliable trade sources is that the film has now shifted to (early) January 2009, but the exact release date is yet to be finalized.
In a way this is a blessing in disguise and a well thought of strategy by the makers as not many big films are scheduled for the first half of January. In fact there are only two films, HAI KYA DUM and Nana Patekar's HORN OK PLEASSSS which are both set for a January 9 release. So, that would mean an open field for KHALLBALLI when and if it releases in the first half of the month. And thus a warm welcome lies in store next year for this laughasecond comic caper.
