The Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI) was born of a dream of promoting meaningful cinema in a city that prides itself on being India's Film Capital.

MAMI strives to increase the awareness of film beyond it being a source of entertainment. The International Film Festival Mumbai (IFFM), India's only Independent Film Festival, is a tribute to the glorious city of Mumbai, and is a commitment made by MAMI to introduce and expand Mumbaikar's horizon to include the latest trends in international cinema. It has a captive audience of 5000 delegates.

The 10th IFFM will be held from March 6-13, 2008 and will screen 100 films from 40 countries.

On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, MAMI introduces, for the first time, a contest for Mumbai's filmmakers.

Dimensions Mumbai:

To celebrate its 10th year, the International Film Festival of Mumbai, introduces an exciting new initiative - Dimensions Mumbai, a competition of short films on the city.

The competition invites five-minute films on any aspect of Mumbai; it is open to film and media professionals and students from the city. The age of the participants should be 25 years or less.

There is an attractive cash prize of Rs 1 lakh for the best film

The first runner-up will win Rs.30,000 and the second, Rs.20,000

The short-listed films will be screened during the IFFM

The last date for receiving entries has been extended from February 23, to March 1, 2008, due to the great interest and ethusiasm the contest has generated among young filmmakers in Mumbai.
