Priyanka Kothari is livid. First and foremost erroneous reports about her being involved in a car accident are being flashed across all media channels without any fact checking with her. Secondly, she is still being referred to as Nisha even as she had announced weeks back about her reverting to her real name Priyanka.
'How insensitive and irresponsible could media get', questions Priyanka. 'There I was getting arrangements made so that the accident victim could get the best treatment at Nanavati hospital and what I get to see is all news channels flashing their breaking news about me being involved in an accident.'
'No one bothered to check the real incident with me when the fact was that I wasn't even inside the car when the accident happened. I was returning from Nagpur and waiting for my car at the airport when I found about the accident', explains Priyanka.
For those who came in late, on Wednesday, 2nd January, her car had hit a woman. It was being driven by her driver Saleem. As per Priyanka, it was a classic case of an unfortunate accident when neither the victim nor the man behind the wheels could really be blamed.
'I met the woman's husband at the hospital too and he understood too. He didn't have any complains either. However, as I reached home, the next thing I see is horrible tales being told about the accident and even me. I fail to understand how media gets to run all the stories as per its own convenience', says the exasperated actor.
On the professional front, Priyanka has been lying low as far as Bollywood is concerned. After seeing two back to back box office disasters in the form of RAM GOPAL VARMA KI AAG and GO, she claims to be wising up and taking her steps carefully going forward.
'I am looking forward to a really new year in the form of 2008. But does that mean I am sad about the year gone by? No ways. I am a born optimist and look forward to things as they come. Even my failures have a lot to teach me.'
Reacting to some of the critics who have lambasted her in a big way, she says, 'Ok, so many reviews or comments may have been below the belt and simply uncalled for but I still respect the critics who have mentioned some genuine improvement areas. I am going to work on those for sure.'
