His last film, FAMILY- TIES OF BLOOD (2006), may have been a box-office disaster and his latest, HALLA BOL, may not exactly be setting the cash registers ringing, but there is no denying the fact that Rajkumar Santoshi is one of the finest directors of Bollywood. Films like GHAYAL (1990), DAMINI (1993), THE LEGEND OF BHAGAT SINGH (2002) and KHAKEE (2004) are some standout examples of his brilliance.
In the midst of all the above mentioned names, one tends to forget his iconic comedy film, ANDAZ APNA APNA (featuring Aamir Khan and Salman Khan) that ranks amongst the finest comedy films of Bollywood. So will we never see the comic genius aspect of the director at work again? Well, the answer and the good news is that Santoshi has some concrete plans on those lines. As per the director, the recent spate of comedy films may have conquered the box-office but he finds them crude, crass, flat and illogical. Santoshi says that he has a few subjects which he is evaluating and has plans to put the idea into practice in future.
Well, we are looking forward to the official announcement and are patiently awaiting the good news!
