SARKAR RAJ may be carrying excellent reports and looking all set to be an outright hit within a week of its release. Still, Ram Gopal Varma is hounded by queries around the twin failure of RAM GOPAL VARMA KI AAG and DARLING.

'I guess I have moved on but you guys haven't', quips Ramu, 'I stopped thinking about the failure within a week of its release. In fact I was happily shooting for my other films. See, there is no point thinking extra hard about why a film fails. You can't assess that. There can be 100 point of views and if you start analyzing them too closely, you would only loose focus from what you are doing.'

Ok, so let's forget about AAG since it has been beaten to death. But how about DARLING? The film did have it's moments but it still failed at the box office. Ever wondered why?

'Again, as I said, I never sat down to analyze what went wrong', says Ramu, 'Still, I have been informed that for some people, it wasn't easy to digest/follow the horror-n-comedy narrative. It wasn't something that they were either used to or prepared for. I tried a novel format but it didn't go down well with the audience.'

Adding on, he says, 'Another one of the biggest Bollywood tragedies is 'how do we place songs in a film'. In DARLING too, despite the kind of theme we are carrying, songs had to be incorporated in the narrative. This is when the entire selling thing comes into picture. You have songs so you have to sell them. But then there are so many other key factors about a film that could possibly be missed out.'

'Lastly, audience interest comes from the promos or the title. They decide around whether they want to see a film or not the moment they have been exposed to the first look of the film. SARKAR RAJ is giving us all positive vibes; nice for us. Perhaps in case of my last few movies, these were the areas that didn't enthuse the audience', says Ramu with a matter of fact.

Sound quite right Ramu! This is perhaps the reason why even a small film like CONTRACT is carrying good buzz even though just a glimpse of it has been shown so far!
