The year 2008 may well turn out to be a watershed year in Abhishek Bachchan's career, with as many as three big releases. The impressive list includes Ramgopal Varma's, SARKAR RAJ, Goldie Behl's, DRONA and Karan Johar's, DOSTANA. Of the three, the first venture, SARKAR RAJ has already released earlier this month and has netted in excess of 30 crore in 2 weeks from India and still counting. Abhishek's performance in the film has been appreciated by many of the critics as well as the audience. Towards the end of the year we will see the release of Abhishek-John-Priyanka Chopra starrer, DOSTANA.
However, it's the month of October and 'Eid-Gandhi Jayanti' day, 2nd October to be precise that will in all probability see the most important of all the three releases, DRONA, being unleashed on the big screen. The film assumes importance since it is the first solo hero title role project after Abhi's Mani Ratnam directed 42 crore super-hit GURU.
Though the general impression is that DRONA is a superhero flick, Abhishek clears the air by saying that it is not. He adds that DRONA will have cutting edge entertainment and SFX (Charles Darby) of International standard. He concludes by saying that Priyanka plays his bodyguard-cum-love interest in the film.
