Promotion of SINGH IS KINNG has begun and though one waits with a bated breath to hear and see how the Snoop Dogg song eventually turns out to be (rumoredly it is going to cost Rs. 7 crores for the makers), what one can be sure about is the fact that overall, the soundtrack of this Anees Bazmee film is going to be one 'dhamaal' affair. Reason? With an exception of this song, remaining album has Pritam at helm for whom this is now his biggest project ever since DHOOM 2.
While the composer has created countless chartbusters in the months gone by, an Akshay Kumar film is always special. Add to that the coming together of Vipul Shah (producer), Anees Bazmee (director) and Katrina Kaif (with Akshay she has recently delivered a blockbuster WELCOME; with Pritam - RACE) and you know the composer cannot go wrong here. Especially so after giving superhit music in RACE and JANNAT in the recent times.
Prod Pritam about the music of this much anticipated album and he says, 'The brief given to me was to make an album that brings the essence of Punjab; something which goes with the mood and genre of the film. In addition, I had to make sure that the songs sound contemporary and come with a modern feel.'
How successful has he been?
'With certain albums, once you are done with creating the songs, you get a feel that it is going to work. I get a similar feel for SINGH IS KINNG. Since I am least worried about the promotion of the album due to people involved with the project, I am sure that it would reach out all over. After that it all depends upon the album's acceptance. SINGH IS KINNG has a full on Punjabi flavor and I am sure about it clicking with the lovers of 'masala' music', concludes Pritam.
