AASHAYEIN is a challenge for actress Sonal Sehgal who makes her silver screen debut opposite John Abraham in the T Series-PPC venture, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. The role of Nafisa who is Rahul aka John Abraham's live-in girlfriend in the film, says Sonal, gave her a lot of scope for performance. "Nafisa is a real character that I could totally identify with."

What excited Sonal was that though Nafisa was someone she identified with, the way the character would react or speak in a given circumstance was very different from her as a person. "Therein lay the challenge of the role. For example, Nafisa is very calm and that reflects in her tenor, her demanour. I get excited easily and that reflects in my speech. To remain calm at every point and be Nafisa was not easy. Nafisa is very calm, composed and mature. In real life, I am trying to be all those things," laughs Sonal.
