It has happened in the past and it is happening again.
Once upon a time Johney Lever was the flavor of the season and regardless of who played the main lead in the film, it was Johney Lever who was featured prominently in the film's publicity.
History is now repeating itself in case of HASTEY HASTEY where a major section of film's publicity budget has been reserved for today's numero uno comedy actor Rajpal Yadav. And this time around the makers have not one, not two but as many as three Rajpal Yadavs to choose from.
While it is a known fact that Rajpal Yadav plays a triple role in the film, the film's promotion too is centered in a big way on the varied characters that he plays. There is a 'baap', a flirtatious 'beta' (who is suspected to be a gay) and an uncle who is a 'sardar'!
Together the three are expected to create a riot on screen and this is the reason why the makers (producer duo of Ashutosh Bajpay & Shiv Ram Kumar and director Tony) are leaving no stones unturned to use Yadav as the USP of the film. This is pretty much apparent from the fact that even with Jimmy Sheirgill as the main lead of the film and Nisha Rawal and Monishka as the debutant girls; HASTEY HASTEY is being pitched as a Rajpal Yadav film.
Well, as long this brings in the crowds and makes the film a success, no one associated with HASTEY HASTEY would really mind that. A romantic comedy with an emotional quotient attached to it; HASTEY HASTEY is looking at a 30th May release.
