With the bad taste of the Eid week disappointment still lingering, the action shifts to the Dussehra week. Now that the Nana Patekar starrer HORN OK PLEASSSS has been postponed to 7th November, the second holiday week of October will see an almost open week for Atul Agnihotri's HELLO. And that is good news for the makers as even the song featuring a shirtless Salman Khan is creating a buzz!

After a month of smaller though well executed projects doing very well, the much awaited return of the biggies on Eid turned out to be an anti–climax. The first release, the Goldie Behl directed Jaya, Abhishek, Priyanka and Kay Kay starrer DRONA, released at 86 cinemas of Bombay and suburbs (thru Eros Multimedia Pvt. Ltd.), had quite a good opening. Outside of Bombay the opening was very good in U.P. and fair to good at others. The second release, Sanjay Gadhvi's Dutt, Imran and Minissha starrer KIDNAP, released at 82 cinemas of Bombay (thru Studio 18), had a good opening day. In other circuits the opening was very good in some circuits and ordinary at others. Trade predicted a quick crash to heavy fall for both the movies and the evidence of that was seen on the second day itself as the collections plummeted. In a city like Indore, the collections on Friday were barely 25–40 percent of the collections in the comparable shows on Thursday! In Jodhpur, collections on the second day were 35–55 percent of collections on the opening day. A similar drop was observed in Pune too. The picture was almost similar in other centres and circuits. The trade pundits predict twin failures in the shape of KIDNAP and DRONA. They further add that KIDNAP will see a quick and substantial decline and owing to its high cost DRONA will entail back–breaking losses to all concerned. In the Overseas, the picture was almost similar. While DRONA grossed a so–so $237,647 in US and £117,854 in UK, KIDNAP had a fairly decent £ 243,309 from the UK, all collections for 4–days.

The third release of the week, Nandita Das's RAMCHAND PAKISTANI had a frighteningly weak start in Bombay and was unbelievably dull everywhere. The commercial outcome of the film is almost nil.
