EK VIVAH AISA BHI was shot over an extensive period of 120 days. However, Rajshris completely trusted their debutant director Kauhsik Ghatak to drive the entire show. The film didn't have any interference from the big bosses during the shoot, so much so that even Sooraj Barjatya, who has conceptualized the entire project, was hardly present on the film's sets.
Confirms Sonu Sood, the male solo lead of EK VIVAH AISA BHI, "We shot for 120 days for the film and Sooraj must have been there for just 56 days. He came only to cheer us and make us feel comfortable."
Didn't the cast feel a little lost considering the director of the film was new himself?
"This may be Kaushik's first feature film but he has done some tremendous work for TV. Moreover, I have been in the industry for 78 years now and at the least I can sense during narration itself whether the director knows his job. This happened when EVAB was narrated as I truly realized that he knows everything, right from every section of the script to the next shot which had to be directed. He was always ready."
How did Sooraj keep in touch with him and Eesha?
"He was pretty clued into what was happening during the shoot and used to see the scenes which were completed. If he liked something, he used to SMS us and appreciate a particular shot or the smile he used to see in our eyes or the nuanced he would have caught in any particular expression. He was encouraging enough and though he may not have been physically present during the shoot, in spirit he was always connected to EK VIVAH AISA BHI", explains Sonu.
