Preity Zinta to receive the Smita Patil Memorial Award for Best Actress by Priyadarshni Academy, a prominent NGO engaged in socio-cultural and educational activities and has been holding the biennial Awards Function since its inception in 1984.

Mr. Nanik Rupani, Chairman, Priyadarshni Academy has announced that its Biennial Smita Patil Memorial Award will be bestowed on the Hindi Film actress Ms. Preity Zinta for her outstanding contribution to the Hindi film industry.

Ms. Preity Zinta is a leading actress of Hindi films. She started her career as a model, television anchor, and commercial (ad films) actress. She has won accolades for her exemplary performance and histrionic talent. Ms. Zinta has won many awards for her diverse roles.

The Smita Patil Memorial Award will be presented to Preity Zinta at the Silver Jubilee Global Awards Function on 19th Sept 2008. Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh, Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, will be the Chief Guest for the Awards Function.
