As has been the trend of multiple films releasing during last few weeks (It was ROCK ON, C KKOMPANY, CHAMKU, MUKHBIIR in the week gone by; PHOONK, MAAN GAYE MUGHALL-E-AZAM and MUMBAI MERI JAAN a week earlier), this Friday too would see as many as three notable films vying for audience's attention - HIJACK, A WEDNESDAY and TAHAAN. No wonder, with such a plethora of films hitting the screens week after week and the remainder of September looking no different, it is imperative that the makers go an extra mile to provide added visibility to their projects. The makers of A WEDNESDAY are doing just that as they are hosting special screenings for their dramatic thriller across the country.

While Gujarat CM Narendra Modi and Mumbai Police have already been shown the film, on Tuesday it was the turn of special invitees in Pune to have a dekko at the film. This is not all as Wednesday saw the film being run for Dellhi CM Shiela Dixit with more prominent politicans seeing the film on Thursday as well.

Says Jimmy Sheirgill who plays a pivotal role in A WEDNESDAY along with Anupam Kher and Naseruddin Shah, ''Kher saab along with UTV are going all out to make sure that A WEDNESDAY gets as much visibility as possible prior to it's Friday release. All of us out here are quite positive about the film and don't have any apprehensions whatsoever to have such a large number of special screenings. Kher saab is taking a personal interest as he is quite attached to the film. It is great to see him propagating the film in such a big way.''

Talking about the film's writer-director Neeraj Pandey, Jimmy says, ''Neeraj has made a film which has its own space in the sky. It is not a conventional film about a hero-heroine-villain and stuff alike. There are 4-5 principal characters in the film and Neeraj has kept it all tout by narrating a slick edge-of-the-seat story in less than 100 minutes. It is as thrilling as it gets.''

Unlike popular misconception, A WEDNESDAY is not a film that is based on the Mumbai train blasts. ''It is silly to be hearing anything less that'', says Jimmy in a hapless tone, ''Instead it tells the story of certain events that unfold between 2 pm and 6 pm on a particular Wednesday. Even in our film's publicity material, we have clearly stated that A WEDNESDAY has it's crux in these very events which do not exist in any record but which deeply affect the lives of those involved.''

A WEDNESDAY has Anupam Kher play a police commissioner who gets a threat call and is on a mission to stop the terrorist. Jimmy Shergill and Aamir Bashir are part of Anti Terrorist Squad in the film while Naseeruddin Shah plays the antagonist.
