''Those who claim that they are born actors are mouthing plain bullshit'', fumes Udita Goswami who is looking at reviving her stint in Bollywood with films like FOX and THE MAN in which she would be seen after a hiatus. She goes on to add, ''One has to learn the craft of acting otherwise it all becomes way too mechanical. One is required to constantly evolve and to enable that, one has to have the basics of acting right. This is why I have enrolled myself to method acting classes.''
Coming from an actor who made a reasonably decent debut with PAAP and followed it up with successive hits like ZEHER and AKSAR, it comes as quite some surprise. Why this sudden love for method acting?
''See, I don't come with any background in acting and though I may have been fine in my earlier films, it doesn't harm to catch on newer ropes. Today sensibilities have changed for audience as well as film makers and I truly believe that I should have started attending these classes quite early'', admits Udita.
Seemingly impressed with the manner in which she is learning finer aspects of acting, Udita says excitedly, ''I am a part of an enhanced workshop which is run by this man called Raj. He is trained in method acting and is phenomenal in the way he coaches you with the nuances. I have learnt that people who have gone through method acting automatically tend to approach a scene differently with a new way of thinking and acting.''
How has her own experience been so far?
''It has been quite good actually and I can already see improvements. You become much more confident and start seeing your own flaws. I started off with basics and now am into the next level of classes. There are quite a few people, both from within and outside the industry, who are a part of these classes. We basically go through English scripts to fine tune the art'', Udita divulges.
''Looking good all this while was good but now I want to substantiate it with some improved acting skills as well'' are Udita's famous last words!
