Naseeruddin ShahThis would be for the second time in the recent times when the prolific performer Naseeruddin Shah has replaced the living legend Amitabh Bachchan!

First time when Naseer had replaced Big B was for Jagmohan Mundhra's SHOOT ON SIGHT, which Big B turned down citing it as too controversial and the role ultimately went to Naseeruddin Shah. Now once again Nasseruddin Shah has given the positive nod for portraying a character first offered to Amitabh Bachchan. And the role bagged by Naseer is for a film titled as MAHARATHI, a film inspired by a hit Gujarati play starring Paresh Rawal which is being directed by Shivum Nair. Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. is producing this comic thriller.

Though the reasons for the same, as to why Big B refused to be a part of MAHARATHI, are not yet revealed, but few reports held that Big B opted not to do the role because of some strong reasons he firmly believed in.
