Multiplexes in doldrums with all Bollywood releases being washouts

AA DEKHEN ZARA, COFFEE HOUSE and PAL PAL DIL KE SSAAT
If 8X10 TASVEER has been a disaster then the movies that came prior to the Akshay Kumar starrer too haven't been able to hold themselves at the box office.
AA DEKHEN ZARA (which had arrived on select multiplexes), EK - THE POWER OF ONE and VIDESH - HEAVEN ON EARTH have all collapsed in their second week hence ensuring that they don't have anything to offer in the current week. 8X10 TASVEER has been retained on a good number of shows in the second week but that is hardly expected to help the cause while each of the five Hindi releases of the week - EK SE BURE DO, COFFEE HOUSE, PAL PAL DIL KE SSAAT, SCHOOL DAYS and ROYAL UTSAV - has failed to take off at the box office.
Picture this. After a poor first week, each of the three films- AA DEKHEN ZARA, EK - THE POWER OF ONE and VIDESH - HEAVEN ON EARTH - crashed miserably with close to 90% fall. While AA DEKHEN ZARA collected a mere 50 lakhs more, EK - THE POWER OF ONE grossed around 75 lakhs. As for VIDESH - HEAVEN ON EARTH, less said the better. The film saw less than 5 lakhs more coming its way.
The three films have now turned out to be one of the top flops in the career of the principal actors in the film. Bipasha Basu hasn't seen a flop as big as AA DEKHEN ZARA in the recent times while for Neil Nitin Mukesh, it has been a second box office failure in a row after JOHNNY GADDAAR.
Bobby Deol too has seen multiple flops in the recent times but EK - THE POWER OF ONE would hurt him most because it has failed in spite of its action theme. As for Preity Zinta, she may as well stay miles away from Deepa Mehta after being a part of this fiasco called VIDESH - HEAVEN ON EARTH.
With all the movies from the past being flops, 8X10 TASVEER already being a disaster and none of the five new releases looking good to stay at theaters beyond the first weekend, it is indeed an extremely bad situation for multiplexes this season!
