Kunal Khemu is indeed enjoying his days of male bonding when it comes to his recent films. In DHOONDTE REH JAAOGE, he had Paresh Rawal as his partner in crime while in JAI VEERU, the love-hate relationship between him and Fardeen Khan occupied the center-stage. Now in his upcoming film 99, he has actors like Cyrus Broacha and Boman Irani for company and together they promise to have indulged into some real male bonding.
''I guess the pairing of me and Cyrus Broacha is as unlikely as it gets'', quips Kunal, ''Together both op us would sit down with Boman Irani and have fun on the screen as well as off it. No wonder, 99 turned out to be one joyride of a film. In fact Cyrus and I would be seen together for most part of the film; I can't recollect many scenes where we are not together. We play friends in the film and are shown to be doing everything together.''
Where does that leave Soha Ali Khan, who along with Simone Singh, is the only other female actor in the film dominated by males (Vinod Khanna and Mahesh Manjrekar are other important characters in the film)?
''Yes, 99 is a very male bonding film; you know a guy-guy kind of a film. But then Soha has no lesser role to play. In fact she is the only person in the film which brings in some patience and maturity in these characters'', says Kunal, ''In fact I can safely say that with all the madness that happens in the film, especially due to Cyrus, Boman and me, Soha is the only one who brings in some sanity to the proceedings. Thank God for that!''
He goes on to add, ''All said and done, in 99 you are looking at a 100% entertainer. I could even pen the film's catch words as 'Entertainment Personified'. And most of it is due to some superb casting that has been put in place. Kudos to the film makers for that.''
