Imagine Cyrus Broacha getting into a gig a la Shammi Kapoor. Scary? Or funny? Well, that would be out in open soon enough when a song (from the film '99') featuring him would be out for all to see. Apparently during the song shoot, Cyrus got into one of his wild-n-crazy moods and came up with an impromptu gig. Not just that, he was suddenly inspired by Shammi Kapoor and started throwing his body around.
''You should have seen the way Cyrus turned into someone else once the music began. None of us could believe that it was actually him coming up with all the moves. He came up with some trademark Shammi Kapoor steps and was unstoppable once he got into the act'', says an assistant choreographer who was a witness to the entire incident.
So was Cyrus really able to ape Shammi Kapoor? Or did he get into a parodic act?
''Forget about just the Shammi Kapooor act'', she says, ''Yes, so he was trying to match Shammiji's trademark moves but what was most impressive was his full-on energy. He impresses all the trained dancers around him who were about 50 in number. In fact they came up with a collective applause just on witnessing the kind of energy level that Cyrus came with. More than the actual steps, it was his spirited act that was commendable.''
Kunal Khemu too agrees that ''Cyrus was a riot on the sets. All of us had to be very careful while shooting with him'', smiles Kunal, ''We had to be really wary about what he would come up with next. This dance number was just one of those things.''
