Five weeks have passed by since the release of NEW YORK. However, the film is still doing well at select multiplexes in spite of KAMBAKKHT ISHQ, SHORTKUT - THE CON IS ON and LUCK releasing after it.
Of course the arrival of LOVE AAJ KAL has resulted in shows being drastically reduced for NEW YORK but the film has much more than just the job. A clean HIT at the box office, it has done wonders for the career of everyone associated with the film, especially John Abraham who is now already a hot contender for an award when the best of the best are announced for 2009.
''Who doesn't want to be appreciated? Even I do. I am humbled that the film has held on so strongly'', says John Abraham who now has all his concentration for his in production film 1-800 LOVE which is being directed by Abbas Tyrewala of JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA fame.
He is especially happy that the film faced a challenge from so many biggies but audiences still kept their love alive for his NEW YORK.
''All thanks to them who made sure that NEW YORK kept chugging along'', he smiles, ''In fact I am especially happy for Akshay Kumar as his KAMBAKKHT ISHQ has done well too. It was double celebration at that time because films of both of us were doing so well simultaneously. It's good for the industry as well as everyone associated with the two films.''
Before the end of the year, John Abraham would also see the release of his HOOK YA CROOK which is directed by David Dhawan. Also it's high time that Nagesh Kukunoor's AASHAYEIN (which shows the sensitive side of John) also comes out of the cold storage and hits the screens soon.
