Sheena Shahabadi, the latest entrant to the tinsel world, is making a rather unconventional beginning in Bollywood. In her debut flick TEREE SANG, she plays a 15 year old girl who gets pregnant by her 17 year old boyfriend (played by Ruslaan Mumtaz). This Satish Kaushik directed film comes with a message around teen pregnancy and has one of its major promotional pegs being sex education.
Since Satish Kaushik is known for grooming his newcomer actors well, case in point being Tusshar in MUJHE KUCH KEHNA HAI, what kind of support did she get from him?
''Oh, he is not just a fantastic director and an actor but also a great human being. If you are good at heart then half the battle is won there and then. He is an actor's director as he allows them to be free and do things the way they feel is right'', says Sheena who is all excited about her big day, ''Only when you error he wants the scene to be done a little differently, he would chip in and give suggestions.''
She remembers her shooting stint for TEREE SANG quite fondly.
''Everyday was fun and it was always exciting to know what was going to happen on the day after. Even after working on the scenes we all used to be together, have lunch and talk about the film. Working on TEREE SANG was like being a part of this family.
Not many know though that Sheena is not just a trained actor but also a fabulous dancer.
''That's true. Whatever related to dance, glamour or dramatics really interested me. Don't ask me about those debate competitions in school though; I ran away from them'', she laughs, ''To hone my dancing skills further I learnt Kathak. Later I also learnt from Shiamak Davar and Ganesh Acharya to learn all forms of dance genres. My school was also supportive about my inclination towards movies and thankfully never complained.''
