Imitation is the best form of flattery. And a certain Prahlad Kakkar would definitely agree. One of the most prolific AD men that the industry has seen during last three decades, Prahlad Kakkar has been known for his flamboyant nature and also his trademark tresses, goatee and hat. Though there have been a couple of Bollywood flicks in the past that have featured a character bearing personality similar to that of Prahlad Kakkar, they have mostly been comic outings.
While it is yet to be seen if there is something similar in store once Himesh Reshammiya's forthcoming film RADIO hits the screen, the interesting piece of news that has come in is that yet again, there is an actor who is impersonating Prahlad Kakkar. The man in question? Rajesh Khattar, the man who played the role of a senior don (and an arch rival of Shah Rukh Khan and Boman Irani) in DON - THE CHASE BEGINS AGAIN.
One look at Rajesh in the film RADIO and you know for sure that there is no attempt whatsoever to 'not' reveal the disguise. In fact it is pretty much 'on your face' as one gets a clear indication that the makeover team has gone all out to make sure that Rajesh gets it right when he wears Prahlad Kakkar hat. Pun intended.
'See, more than impersonation I would rather call it is an inspiration', says Rajesh in an expectedly diplomatic tone, 'I wasn't looking at becoming his clone or something. I play the chief of a radio station in the film so yes, at the back of my mind I did think that this character could look like Prahlad Kakkar. But the buck stops here. By no means is this character trying to be a Prahlad. Come on, he is such a renowned ad man while the character I play has a radio station association.'
Does Prahlad know that he would be seen in this getup in RADIO?
'I don't know if he is aware about this or not but I haven't spoken to him. I didn't feel the need for it. As I said I was being inspired. In any case there is no copyright on someone's look', smiles Rajesh.
