It has been 36 years since Rishi Kapoor made his debut as a lead actor with BOBBY (1973). This is why it was nothing short of a nostalgic moment for him when he came face to face with a man who was an integral part of the Raj Kapoor directed eternal love story. He was Narendra Chanchal, the world famous Bhajan singer, who had sung ''Beshak Mandir Masjid Todo'' for BOBBY and also won 'Filmfare Best Male Playback Award' for the song.
It was a special moment for Rishi Kapoor and Narendra Chanchal as they came face to face again for the launch of Coffee Table Book 'The Midnight Singer - Narinder Chanchal'. The actor was specially invited in Delhi for the book's launch that also saw the arrival of L.K. Advani.
Says Rishi Kapoor, ''It has been close to four decades since we started our career almost together with BOBBY. He is the same humble man that he was during the making of the film. It was back to old times when I met him again after so many years. He had made 'Beshak Mandir Masjid Todo' such a special song which is remembered till date.''
''During my interaction with him, I also realised that he is pretty much active with an NGO called Ekta Mission'', adds Rishi Kapoor, ''They are doing so much for the society. In fact I got quite emotional when Narendra used the word 'differently abled' for the children who are disabled. He said that it was not fair to differentiate between children who came with certain challenges. It was a touching statement to make.''
